Accounting and finance are the disciplines that sit at the heart of how organisations measure, report, and manage their financial resources. Accounting is concerned with recording, classifying, and communicating financial information in ways that are accurate, transparent, and useful to decision-makers. Finance extends this to the analysis of investment decisions, capital markets, risk management, and the valuation of assets and businesses. Together, they underpin every business decision and drive the allocation of capital across the global economy, making practitioners in this field central to the operation of virtually every organisation. At the University of Kent this part-time programme develops both the analytical rigour of accounting and the broader financial understanding that the combined study provides. You will study financial reporting, management accounting, auditing, and the regulatory frameworks that govern how organisations account for their activities, alongside financial theory, corporate finance, investment analysis, and the economics of financial markets. You will develop quantitative skills, the ability to interpret financial data, and the professional and ethical understanding that accounting and finance careers demand. Professional qualification routes with bodies such as the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales, the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants, and the Chartered Institute of Management Accountants are well supported by this degree, and many graduates pursue these routes towards qualification as accountants or finance professionals.
