The Bachelor of Music at the Royal Academy of Music is one of the most prestigious and demanding undergraduate music degrees available anywhere in the world. This four-year full-time programme through the standard pathway develops your principal instrument or voice to the highest professional level while giving you a comprehensive musical education in harmony and counterpoint, music history and analysis, chamber music, and orchestral or ensemble work. Solo and ensemble performance are at the heart of the curriculum, and you will perform in public concerts and recitals throughout the degree, developing the stage presence, technical reliability, and interpretive depth that professional music-making demands. A year abroad is incorporated into the programme, giving you the opportunity to study at a leading music institution in another country and encounter different pedagogical traditions and musical cultures. Graduates of the Royal Academy go on to careers as soloists, orchestral musicians, chamber musicians, opera singers, conductors, and accompanists, as well as in music teaching, arts administration, music journalism, composition, and music research.
