Business economics brings the rigour of economic analysis to the questions that organisations and markets face every day. Where pure economics often focuses on theoretical models, business economics is concerned with how those models apply in the real world of firms, industries and markets, examining pricing decisions, competitive dynamics, market structure, business strategy and the policy environment in which companies operate. It is a degree that develops strong analytical and quantitative skills alongside a genuine understanding of how commercial life works. At the University of East Anglia, this four-year programme includes a placement year, giving you the chance to apply your learning in a professional context before you graduate. You will study microeconomics and macroeconomics, econometrics and data analysis, industrial economics, international trade and finance, business strategy and the regulation of markets. The placement year deepens your professional experience and gives you an understanding of how economic thinking is applied in practice, whether in a business, a consultancy, a policy organisation or a financial institution.
