BA Business Management and Food & Nutritional Sciences
About this course
Business management combined with food and nutritional sciences is a pairing that connects the core discipline of managing organisations with the specialist knowledge of one of the most significant industries in the economy. Food and nutrition is a field with broad reach: the food industry employs millions of people, nutritional science informs public health policy, and the management of food systems raises questions about sustainability, ethics, and global supply chains that connect business decision-making to social and environmental outcomes. At Liverpool Hope University, this three-year full-time programme examines the full spectrum of business organisations from small enterprises to global multinationals across public, private, and not-for-profit sectors, alongside the scientific content of food and nutritional sciences including the biology, chemistry, and physiology of nutrition. The business management component develops your understanding of organisational dynamics, strategy, marketing, finance, and the management of people. The food and nutritional sciences dimension develops your knowledge of how food composition affects health, how nutritional science informs dietary recommendations, and how food safety and regulation shape the food industry. A sandwich placement year, a year abroad, and work placement opportunities are built into the degree, giving you professional and international experience alongside the core content. You will develop analytical, scientific, and management skills alongside the commercial awareness and communication capabilities needed to work effectively across business and food industry environments. Graduates from this combination pursue careers in food business management, nutrition policy, food product development, marketing in the food sector, public health nutrition, and a range of related fields. Postgraduate study in food science, nutrition, business, or public health is a natural continuation.
