BA Business Management
About this course
Business management is the discipline that prepares you to lead and operate organisations in an environment that is constantly changing. It draws on economics, psychology, sociology, data analysis, and strategy to develop your understanding of how businesses function, how decisions get made, and how organisations of different types, from small enterprises to global multinationals, navigate uncertainty and competition. A management education gives you both conceptual frameworks and practical skills, and the best programmes ensure you can apply what you learn to real organisational challenges. At Liverpool Hope University, this three-year full-time programme examines the full spectrum of organisational types, from small and medium-sized enterprises to large multinational companies, and across public, private, and not-for-profit sectors. It focuses on business principles, organisational dynamics, and management processes, building your understanding of how organisations actually function in complex and uncertain conditions. The programme includes a sandwich placement year, a year abroad, and work placement opportunities, giving it a particularly rich set of structural features that develop professional competence and international perspective alongside academic knowledge. The placement year provides direct professional experience, while the year abroad broadens your understanding of business in an international context. You will study strategy, finance, marketing, human resource management, operations, entrepreneurship, and organisational behaviour, developing analytical and communication skills that are central to effective management practice across sectors. Graduates from business management programmes are well placed across a wide range of industries and roles. Graduate training schemes, management roles in commercial and public sector organisations, entrepreneurial ventures, and specialist careers in marketing, finance, HR, and consultancy are all accessible pathways. The placement and international experience make graduates particularly attractive to employers with global operations. Postgraduate study including MBAs and specialist masters is a natural option.
