BA Business Management with Human Resource Management
About this course
Business management and human resource management together address two of the most fundamental concerns of any organisation: how it is directed and how the people within it are recruited, developed, motivated, and retained. HRM has evolved from a largely administrative function into a strategic one, concerned with aligning people practices with organisational goals and ensuring that talent is the competitive advantage its advocates claim it to be. At Queen Margaret University in Edinburgh, this four-year full-time programme gives you a thorough grounding in both management and HRM. You will study organisational behaviour, strategy, marketing, finance, and operations alongside employment law, recruitment and selection, performance management, learning and development, reward, and employee relations. The combination trains you to think about organisations both from the perspective of those who lead them and from the perspective of those who work within them, a dual awareness that is genuinely useful in practice. You will develop analytical and communication skills alongside the technical knowledge, preparing you for roles that require both rigorous thinking and effective people management. The typical entry tariff is 168 UCAS points, and the programme is studied full time. Graduates from business management and HRM programmes enter careers across a wide range of organisations and sectors. Human resources, people management, organisational development, training and development, recruitment, and management consultancy are all natural destinations. Many also move into general management roles where knowledge of people practices gives them a distinctive advantage. Further study options include postgraduate programmes in HRM, business administration, and organisational behaviour, as well as professional qualifications from the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development.
