BSc Business Management with Marketing with Foundation Year
About this course
Business management with marketing brings together two complementary disciplines that together address how organisations create value and communicate it to the audiences they serve. Business management gives you the frameworks to understand how organisations are structured and led, how they make strategic and operational decisions, and how they manage people, finance and resources. Marketing gives you the tools to understand customers and markets, to develop and position products and services, and to communicate with audiences effectively across a range of channels and contexts. At the University of Law this four-year full-time programme begins with a foundation year, giving students who need additional preparation the grounding required before the main degree. You will develop communication skills across formal and informal contexts, including an understanding of social media and how to use it effectively for professional purposes. You will study the principles of business management alongside marketing strategy, consumer behaviour, brand management and the digital marketing landscape. The programme encourages you to reflect on your own development, considering past choices and how you might approach similar situations differently in future. The combination of management and marketing knowledge is particularly valued by employers in smaller and medium-sized businesses, where individuals often contribute across multiple functions, as well as in agencies and larger organisations where the two disciplines interact closely. Graduates move into marketing management, brand management, digital marketing, communications, sales, business development and general management roles across a wide range of sectors. Many pursue further professional qualifications in marketing with bodies such as the Chartered Institute of Marketing. Postgraduate study in business, marketing or communications is also an option for those who wish to specialise further.
