BSc Chemistry with Management
About this course
Chemistry with management is a combination that prepares you for the places where chemical science meets organisational and commercial life. Chemistry is the central science, concerned with the composition, structure, and transformation of matter, and its applications run through pharmaceuticals, materials, food, energy, and the environment. Management provides the frameworks to understand how organisations work, how decisions are made under conditions of uncertainty, and how technical expertise is deployed within commercial and institutional settings. Together, they produce a graduate who is scientifically rigorous and commercially aware. At the University of Bath, this three-year full-time degree gives you a broad education in chemistry alongside an understanding of management theory and business practice. You will study the theoretical foundations of chemical behaviour alongside experimental work, developing skills in designing and conducting experiments and interpreting results. At the same time, you will gain insight into the organisational and financial dimensions of how businesses in the chemical, pharmaceutical, and related industries actually operate. Bath's chemistry department is well regarded and the degree reflects the university's commitment to connecting academic excellence with real-world application. Graduates in chemistry with management are well placed for careers that sit at the boundary of science and business. Roles in product development, technical sales, regulatory affairs, operations management, and consultancy in the chemical, pharmaceutical, life sciences, and materials sectors are all natural destinations. Many graduates go on to work in general management or commercial roles where a scientific background is a genuine advantage, while others choose to pursue further study in chemistry, management, or an MBA, deepening their expertise in one direction or combining both. The degree also provides a strong foundation for postgraduate research in chemistry or related disciplines.
