It is a discipline that combines physical science and mathematics with design creativity and the practical judgement to deliver complex projects within real constraints of budget, time and safety. As the world faces the intertwined challenges of climate change, rapid urbanisation and ageing infrastructure, civil engineers are among the most important professionals society has. At the University of Southampton this four-year programme leads to an integrated master's degree, going beyond the three-year bachelor's degree with advanced technical modules and a master's-level group design project.
