About this course

Civil engineering is the discipline responsible for the physical infrastructure that underpins modern society. Bridges, roads, railways, tunnels, flood defences, water supply and treatment systems, and the foundations that support our buildings are all civil engineering achievements, and the profession that maintains and extends them requires engineers who combine technical rigour with practical judgement, environmental awareness, and the ability to manage complex projects over long timescales. At the University of the West of Scotland you will study the core disciplines of civil engineering, including structural analysis, geotechnics, hydraulics, transportation, construction materials, and project management.
