BA Digital Marketing and Media & Communication
About this course
Digital marketing and media communication together map the landscape in which organisations connect with their audiences in the contemporary world. Digital marketing examines how brands use search, social, content, email, and data analytics to reach and influence people online. Media and communication extends that lens to encompass how meaning is made, circulated, and contested across platforms, asking questions about representation, audience behaviour, journalism, and the changing relationship between producers and consumers of media content. At Liverpool Hope University, this three-year full-time programme combines rigorous academic study of communication theory with practical digital marketing skills. You will examine how audiences engage with content across different channels, how data shapes campaign decisions, how storytelling works in both traditional and digital contexts, and how organisations manage their reputation in a media environment that moves quickly and forgives slowly. A sandwich year places you in industry for an extended period, and a year abroad broadens your understanding of how different media cultures operate. Work placement experience is integrated throughout the programme. Graduates are well placed for roles in digital marketing agencies, in-house marketing teams, social media management, content strategy, public relations, journalism, broadcasting, and communications consultancy. The combination of critical and practical skills the programme develops is valued across commercial, public sector, and non-profit organisations. Many graduates also pursue postgraduate study in marketing, media and communications, or data analytics, and the breadth of the combined degree makes it a strong foundation for a range of further study routes.
