Understanding how children learn, how to create stimulating and supportive environments, and how to work effectively with families and colleagues is at the heart of what this field demands. At Anglia Ruskin University, this three-year full-time degree at University Centre West Anglia offers a higher-level qualification for those already working as teaching assistants, early years nursery workers, or playworkers, as well as for those who want to study the field before beginning their career. You will develop your theoretical understanding of child development and early education alongside the practical and professional skills needed to work effectively in early years and primary settings. The degree is designed to deepen the knowledge and confidence of those who are already engaged in the sector while also providing a rigorous academic foundation for those who are just starting out. Graduates in early years and education go on to a range of careers in educational and care settings. Many work in nurseries, children's centres, reception classes, and early years units, moving into roles with greater responsibility and leadership as they build experience. Teaching is a natural next step for many graduates, who may go on to pursue a PGCE in early years or primary education.
