BA Economics and Marketing
About this course
Economics and marketing is a combination that brings together the rigorous analytical tools of economic theory with the strategic and creative thinking of marketing practice. Economics teaches you to understand how markets work, how consumers make decisions, how firms compete, and how macroeconomic forces shape the business environment. Marketing builds on that foundation by asking how organisations can best understand, reach, and influence their target audiences, developing the brand, communication, and data capabilities that drive commercial success. At the University of Stirling, this four-year full-time programme develops your skills in both disciplines in parallel, ensuring you can engage with economic analysis and marketing strategy at an advanced level. You will study microeconomics and macroeconomics, econometrics, and quantitative methods alongside marketing theory, consumer behaviour, digital marketing, and strategic brand management. A year abroad is built into the programme, giving you the experience of studying in a different national context and understanding how economic and commercial environments vary internationally. Entry typically requires around 136 UCAS tariff points. Graduates of economics and marketing work in market research, brand management, marketing strategy, digital marketing, economic consultancy, financial services, the civil service, and a wide range of commercial roles where both analytical rigour and marketing knowledge are valued. The combination is distinctive in the graduate market and prepares you for roles in organisations that want people who can understand both the economic context and the marketing response.
