English and psychology is a combination that develops two complementary ways of understanding human experience: through the analysis of literature and language, and through the empirical study of mind and behaviour. English brings with it skills in close reading, critical interpretation and the construction of arguments about meaning. Psychology adds the scientific methods of observation, experiment and statistical analysis to the study of how people think, feel, perceive and act. Together, they cultivate both creative and analytical capacities, producing graduates equipped to engage with human complexity from multiple perspectives. At the University of Derby, this three-year programme is designed to develop your creative and analytical abilities in tandem.
