About this course
Environmental science is the study of how natural systems work and how human activities are changing them. It draws on biology, chemistry, earth sciences, geography, and ecology to examine the atmosphere, hydrosphere, biosphere, and lithosphere as interconnected systems, and it asks what the consequences of pollution, land use change, biodiversity loss, and climate change will be for those systems and for the human societies that depend on them. The discipline is driven by some of the most urgent problems the world faces, and its graduates are needed across science, policy, industry, and the voluntary sector. The University of the Highlands and Islands offers this five-year full-time programme with a year in industry integrated into the degree.
