BA Esports Business Management
About this course
Esports has grown from a niche hobby into a global industry worth billions, encompassing professional competition, streaming, broadcasting, team management, venue operations, sponsorship, and a complex ecosystem of games publishers, platform holders, and brands. Understanding how this industry works, and how to build a career within it, requires both the passion of a genuine enthusiast and the business acumen of a trained manager. At the University of Keele, this three-year full-time programme gives you a holistic view of the esports industry alongside substantive business knowledge and hands-on experience. You will study the structure and economics of the esports ecosystem, including tournament organisation, team management, broadcasting rights, sponsorship, and fan engagement, alongside the core disciplines of business management: strategy, marketing, finance, operations, and entrepreneurship. The programme takes the industry seriously on its own terms while also equipping you with the transferable business skills that apply well beyond the esports sector. The course includes a sandwich year, a year abroad, and work placement opportunities, giving you a varied and internationally informed range of professional experience before you graduate. The typical entry tariff is 104 UCAS points, and the degree is studied full time. Graduates from esports business management programmes go on to careers in esports organisations, games companies, event management, digital marketing, streaming platforms, agency work, and broader creative and technology industries. Many also move into related sectors such as sports management, media, and entertainment. Further study options include postgraduate programmes in sport and esports management, digital media, and business administration.
