BSc Esports Production
About this course
Esports has grown from a niche gaming subculture into a global industry with professional leagues, dedicated arenas, broadcast deals and audiences that rival traditional sports. Esports production is the discipline concerned with bringing that spectacle to life: the live broadcast direction, studio design, commentary and talent management, technical streaming infrastructure, and the content creation strategies that build and sustain engaged communities around competitive gaming. At Nottingham Trent, you will explore the full production ecosystem that surrounds professional esports. You will study broadcast and live event production techniques, learning how to plan and deliver multi-camera coverage of competitions and how to manage the fast-moving technical demands of a live gaming broadcast. You will also examine the creative and editorial dimensions of esports content, including how to build compelling narratives around players, teams and tournaments for streaming platforms and social media. The programme covers the business structures of the esports industry, giving you an understanding of how leagues, teams, sponsors and publishers interact. You will develop practical skills alongside theoretical knowledge, working with production equipment and industry-standard tools throughout the three-year full-time course. The typical entry tariff is 120 UCAS points. Graduates move into a wide range of roles across the esports and broader media industries. Production coordination, broadcast engineering, social media and content management, event operations and talent management are among the most common pathways. The skills you develop are also applicable in adjacent sectors, including sports broadcasting, live events, digital media and online entertainment. As the esports industry continues to professionalise and attract significant commercial investment, demand for graduates with specialist production knowledge is growing steadily.
