BA European Languages and Society with International Management
About this course
European languages and society combined with international management is a degree that develops linguistic and cultural expertise alongside the management knowledge needed to operate effectively in a globally connected economy. European languages and society examines the cultures, literatures, societies and politics of Europe through the study of languages, giving you both practical linguistic proficiency and a deeper understanding of the diverse contexts in which European life and business unfold. International management brings the frameworks of strategy, finance, marketing, operations and cross-cultural leadership to bear on those international environments. At the University of Stirling, this four-year programme gives you the opportunity to develop genuine proficiency in one or more European languages alongside a thorough grounding in international management. You will engage with language and culture in depth while also studying the analytical and practical dimensions of managing in international contexts, developing the kind of cross-cultural intelligence that is increasingly valued by employers who operate across European and global markets. A year abroad is part of the programme, giving you extended time in a European country where you can develop your language skills and gain direct experience of a different business and cultural environment. Graduates who combine European languages with international management are well placed for careers in international business development, European and international organisations, export management, marketing in international markets, consulting, financial services with a European focus, cultural institutions and diplomatic and public service roles. The combination of high-level language competence and management knowledge is relatively rare and distinctively valuable in a market where multilingual, internationally experienced graduates are in consistent demand. Postgraduate study in international management, European studies or a related field is a natural option for those seeking further specialisation.
