BA Fashion Marketing
About this course
Fashion marketing sits at the point where creative industries and commercial strategy meet. It asks how fashion brands communicate their identity, build desire, reach new audiences, and respond to a rapidly changing landscape shaped by social media, sustainability demands, and shifting consumer values. Understanding fashion marketing means understanding both the business of fashion and the cultural forces that make clothing more than merely functional, while also developing the critical perspective to ask what the industry should be doing differently. At Middlesex University, this part-time programme is designed to develop practitioners with both commercial competence and a genuine commitment to shaping a more sustainable and socially inclusive fashion industry. You will study brand strategy, consumer behaviour, digital marketing, visual communication, trend analysis, and the ethical and environmental dimensions of fashion production and consumption. A foundation year is included, ensuring you build a strong grounding before the main degree begins. A sandwich year gives you a sustained period of professional experience within the fashion or retail sector, and work placement experience is woven throughout the programme. Graduates from fashion marketing programmes go on to roles in brand management, digital marketing, social media management, buying, retail management, PR and communications, and sustainable fashion consultancy. The combination of creative understanding and business rigour is valued by fashion brands, retailers, agencies, and the growing number of organisations working on the sustainability transition in the textile and clothing sector. Postgraduate study in fashion business, marketing, or sustainable fashion is a natural progression for those who wish to move into senior roles or specialise further.
