BA Fashion Marketing
About this course
Fashion marketing sits at the intersection of one of the world's most dynamic creative industries and the disciplines of brand strategy, consumer behaviour, and digital communication. The fashion industry operates through a logic of constant renewal and desire, and understanding how that desire is created, communicated, and sustained requires both an understanding of fashion itself as a cultural and commercial phenomenon and a solid grounding in the marketing principles and research methods that help businesses connect with their audiences. Fashion marketing is distinct from general marketing in its sensitivity to aesthetics, trend cycles, brand identity, and the particular emotional and social significance that clothing carries for consumers. At Regent's University London, you will study fashion marketing over three years of full-time study, with a year abroad included in the programme. London is one of the world's fashion capitals, and studying there gives you access to the industry in ways that are simply not available elsewhere in the UK. The curriculum covers brand management, consumer psychology, digital marketing, social media strategy, retail buying and merchandising, fashion communication, and the business structures through which fashion companies operate at every level from luxury to fast fashion. The year abroad provides the opportunity to experience the fashion industry in a different cultural and commercial context, whether in Paris, Milan, New York, or elsewhere, which is an important credential in an international industry. Graduates from fashion marketing programmes enter careers across the fashion and creative industries. Brand management and marketing roles with fashion houses, retailers, and agencies are direct applications of the degree. Digital marketing, social media management, content creation, and influencer marketing are rapidly growing areas where fashion marketers work. Roles in buying, merchandising, retail management, and fashion PR are further options. The international perspective developed through the year abroad is valued in roles that involve working across markets or with global brands. Postgraduate study in marketing, luxury brand management, or fashion business is an option for those who want to develop deeper expertise.
