LLB Law and Accounting & Finance
About this course
Law and accounting and finance is a combination that addresses two of the most fundamental disciplines in the commercial and professional world. Law provides the analytical and argumentative skills to understand the legal frameworks that govern how organisations operate, how contracts are enforced, how disputes are resolved, and how individuals and companies are held to account. Accounting and finance provides the quantitative and analytical tools to understand how organisations manage money, report their financial position, and make investment and strategic decisions. Together they produce graduates who can engage with both the legal and financial dimensions of professional and commercial life. At Aberystwyth University, this three-year LLB programme is delivered across the Law and Criminology Department, the oldest and most established of its kind in Wales, and Aberystwyth Business School, whose staff bring a wide range of expertise, technical skills, and real-world business experience to the degree. You will study the foundational areas of law alongside the principles and practice of accounting and finance, developing both the rigour of legal analysis and the quantitative capabilities of financial study. Graduates from law and accounting and finance programmes are well placed for careers in law with a commercial or financial specialism, accountancy, financial services, compliance, corporate governance, investment management, and business management roles that require both legal and financial understanding. The law component provides a foundation for further vocational training toward qualification as a solicitor or barrister. The accounting and finance element supports routes toward professional accountancy qualifications. Many graduates pursue postgraduate study in law, accounting, finance, or an MBA, while others move directly into professional and commercial roles where both sets of skills are valued.
