LLB Law
About this course
Law is the discipline that equips you to understand the rules, principles, and institutions that govern society and to engage critically with questions about justice, rights, and the relationship between law and social life. It trains you to read carefully, reason precisely, and construct coherent arguments, developing the analytical and communicative skills that are valued across an exceptionally wide range of professions. A qualifying law degree provides the academic foundation for careers as a solicitor or barrister, as well as the intellectual grounding for a broad range of other paths. At Anglia Ruskin University, this three-year, full-time programme provides the seven core foundations of legal knowledge required by the Solicitors Regulation Authority and the Bar Standards Board for qualification as a solicitor or barrister. You will study constitutional and administrative law, contract law, tort, criminal law, land law, equity and trusts, and European Union law, developing the rigorous legal knowledge that professional qualification demands. The programme also provides access to discounted SQE preparation courses, supporting graduates who wish to pursue the solicitor route. Beyond legal practice, the analytical and argumentative skills the degree develops are applicable across business, the civil service, finance, and any professional context that rewards clear thinking and precise communication. Graduates of Law from Anglia Ruskin pursue careers in legal practice, compliance, human resources, the civil service, finance, journalism, and the third sector. Many go on to SQE preparation and qualification as solicitors, while others take the bar route or pursue non-legal careers in which the skills legal education develops are highly valued. Postgraduate study in law, criminology, or public policy is a common next step for those seeking specialisation or academic careers.
