LLB Law
About this course
Law is one of the most intellectually demanding and socially significant disciplines available at undergraduate level. It examines the systems, structures, and principles that govern behaviour, protect rights, and organise the relationships between individuals, organisations, and the state. A law degree sharpens analytical thinking, strengthens the ability to construct and communicate arguments, and develops a precise understanding of how rules are made, interpreted, and applied. This three-year full-time LLB (Hons) at Leeds Beckett University includes a sandwich placement year, a year abroad, and embedded work placement experience. You will explore the core areas of English law, including contract, tort, criminal law, constitutional and administrative law, and equity and trusts, developing a systematic and critical understanding of the legal system and the principles that underlie it. The programme encourages you to question and challenge as well as to apply the law, developing the intellectual independence that good legal practice demands. The sandwich year, year abroad, and work placement experience give you substantial professional and international exposure, connecting your academic learning to the realities of legal practice and developing the skills and networks that employers value. A typical entry tariff of 104 UCAS points reflects a broadly accessible admissions standard for a demanding and respected qualification. Graduates who intend to qualify as solicitors or barristers will proceed to the relevant professional training. Others use the LLB as a platform for careers in business, public administration, compliance, policy, journalism, the civil service, and a wide range of other fields where legal knowledge and the analytical skills a law degree develops are professionally significant. Many continue to postgraduate study in law, including the LLM.
