LLB Law with Business
About this course
Law with Business is a degree for those who want the intellectual rigour of a law qualification combined with a clear understanding of the commercial world in which legal practice operates. Law examines the rules, principles, and institutions that govern relationships between individuals, organisations, and the state. Business studies adds an understanding of management, strategy, marketing, finance, and organisational behaviour, so that you graduate not only able to think like a lawyer but also able to understand the commercial contexts in which legal advice is given and decisions are made. At Keele University, the LLB Law with Business runs over three years full-time and is delivered by two academic schools, ensuring that neither the legal nor the business element is treated as secondary. You will study the core areas of law required for a qualifying law degree, including contract, tort, public law, and equity, alongside business modules that build genuine commercial literacy. The programme includes a sandwich year and a year abroad, as well as work placement experience integrated into the degree. These opportunities allow you to test your skills in professional and international settings, and they are among the most distinctive features of the degree. Keele's research-led approach means the teaching reflects current legal and commercial debates rather than simply covering established doctrine. Graduates are well prepared for the legal profession, with many proceeding to the Solicitors Qualifying Examination or Bar Practice Course. The business element also makes graduates attractive in commercial law, in-house legal roles, banking, compliance, and general commercial management. Others use the degree as a foundation for postgraduate study in law, business, management, or policy, or move into careers in the civil service, consultancy, or finance where legal and commercial skills together are highly valued.
