LLB Law With Psychology
About this course
Law with psychology is a combination that illuminates the human dimensions of legal systems in ways that neither discipline can achieve alone. Law provides the frameworks of rights, obligations, and procedure through which societies regulate conduct and resolve disputes, training rigorous analytical and argumentative skills in the process. Psychology provides insight into how people actually think, decide, remember, and behave, which is often quite different from how legal theory assumes they do. Understanding that gap between legal assumption and psychological reality is increasingly recognised as essential for anyone working in or thinking seriously about the justice system. At Bangor University, this three-year, full-time degree develops your legal knowledge alongside a genuine grounding in psychological theory and research. You will study core legal areas including contract, tort, criminal law, constitutional law, and evidence, alongside psychological content covering cognitive psychology, social psychology, the psychology of crime and offending, and research methods. The programme includes a foundation year for those who need to build academic foundations before the main degree, as well as a sandwich placement year, a year abroad, and work placement opportunities, giving you professional and international experience alongside your studies. Graduates from law with psychology degrees are well placed for careers in the legal profession, including qualifying as solicitors or barristers after completing further professional training. The psychology dimension creates particular opportunities in criminal law, family law, social work, victim support, and the broader criminal justice system, where psychological insight is directly applicable. Many graduates also pursue careers in human resources, counselling, policy, and research. Postgraduate study in law, clinical or forensic psychology, or criminology is a natural extension for those who want to build specialist expertise.
