BA Management (Theatre and Screen)
About this course
The creative industries, from theatre and film to live events and digital installations, depend not only on artistic talent but on the organisational and managerial intelligence to bring ambitious work into existence. Producing a theatrical production or a screen project requires coordinating budgets, contracts, people, timelines, and creative vision in a context where failure is both costly and public. Management for theatre and screen is the discipline of developing all these competencies alongside a deep engagement with the creative forms themselves. At the Liverpool Institute for Performing Arts this three-year, full-time programme empowers you with the skills, experiences, and contacts needed to be the driving force behind creative productions across theatre and screen. You will develop the practical and conceptual knowledge needed to produce intimate theatre pieces, large-scale musicals, experimental films, and immersive digital installations, learning how the creative and business dimensions of production work together. LIPA's exceptional location in the heart of Liverpool's arts and cultural scene, and its internationally recognised reputation for performing arts education, mean that the industry connections and performance opportunities around you are genuinely extraordinary. Graduates move into careers as producers, production managers, general managers, and creative directors across theatre, film, television, live events, and arts organisations of every scale. Many work in the subsidised arts sector, in producing houses, festivals, and touring companies, while others build careers in commercial theatre, film production, or in the creative content arms of large organisations. The business skills the programme develops are also valued in arts consultancy, cultural policy, and fundraising and development roles. Some graduates continue to postgraduate study in producing, arts management, or screen production. LIPA's alumni network and industry connections are a significant asset in an industry where relationships and reputation matter enormously.
