BA Marketing and Business Law
About this course
Marketing and business law is a combination that connects the creative, analytical, and strategic discipline of marketing with the legal framework within which all commercial activity takes place. Marketing is concerned with understanding customers, creating value, communicating effectively, and building the brands and relationships that sustain commercial success. Business law provides the regulatory and contractual context within which marketing and all other business functions operate, covering consumer protection, contract law, intellectual property, competition law, and the legal dimensions of advertising and digital commerce. At Strathclyde this four-year full-time programme develops your marketing skills to a high level, giving you a thorough understanding of customer behaviour, product and service development, the role of communications in customer satisfaction, and the strategic dimensions of marketing management. The business law component adds legal literacy, ensuring you understand the regulatory environment that shapes how marketing can and cannot be done. The Management Development Programme at Strathclyde provides practical, industry-linked learning opportunities, including the chance to compete in live marketing projects, building both your professional skills and your portfolio. A year abroad is embedded in the programme, broadening your marketing and legal perspectives through exposure to different market environments and regulatory traditions. Graduates move into careers in marketing management, brand management, digital marketing, marketing consultancy, legal roles in commercial organisations, consumer protection, competition policy, and communications. The combination of marketing expertise and legal understanding is particularly valued in organisations where both commercial creativity and regulatory compliance are important. Many graduates also go on to postgraduate study in marketing, business, or law.
