BSc Marketing / Business and Management
About this course
Marketing is the study and practice of how organisations understand their customers, communicate the value of what they offer, and build lasting relationships with the people they serve. Business and management provides the broader context, covering how organisations are structured, led, financed, and run. Together they form a combination that is directly relevant to almost every type of organisation, from small independent businesses to global multinationals, public services, and charities. At Aberystwyth University, this three-year full-time degree allows you to explore both disciplines together, developing an understanding of consumer behaviour, market research, digital and traditional marketing communication, and the management principles that help organisations set strategy and achieve their goals. You will examine how information technology and digital media have transformed marketing practice, and you will develop the analytical and creative skills to use these tools effectively. The programme draws on insights from psychology, sociology, and economics as well as management theory, giving you a multi-perspective view of how markets and organisations work. You will develop your ability to research, argue, and communicate clearly, alongside the practical and commercial literacy that employers in marketing and management roles look for. Graduates from marketing and business management degrees go on to careers in marketing, advertising, public relations, brand management, digital marketing, business development, retail management, consultancy, and entrepreneurship. The combination is valued across both commercial and public sector employers. It also provides a solid foundation for postgraduate study in marketing, business administration, or management.
