About this course
Music production is the craft of shaping recorded sound into finished artistic and commercial works, sitting at the intersection of technical expertise, creative vision, and an understanding of how music is made and experienced in contemporary culture. Producers work with artists to develop recordings, direct studio sessions, design sonic aesthetics, and create the spatial and textural environments in which musical performances come to life. The discipline encompasses recording engineering, mixing, sound design, beat-making, synthesis, and the creative use of digital audio workstations, and it is central to every genre of contemporary music. This three-year full-time BA (Hons) at Leeds Beckett University includes a sandwich placement year, a year abroad, and embedded work placement experience. You will learn to create, record, produce, and perform using industry-standard studios and software, developing your own distinctive creative voice through experimentation and collaboration.
