BSc Nursing (Adult) [Pre-registration Nursing]
About this course
Adult nursing is the most numerous of the nursing specialisms, concerned with the assessment, planning, delivery, and evaluation of nursing care for adults across the lifespan, from young adults to the elderly, in acute hospital settings, in the community, and in people's own homes. Adult nurses work with patients facing a vast range of conditions, from acute surgery and serious illness to long-term conditions and end-of-life care, and they need both the clinical knowledge and the interpersonal skills to provide safe, compassionate, and evidence-based care. At BPP University, this BSc Adult Nursing degree qualifies you to practise as a registered adult nurse backed by the latest in healthcare theory and the clinical experience needed to meet the demands of the role. You will study the biological, psychological, and social dimensions of health and illness, develop your clinical skills across a range of placements, and build the professional judgement to make safe and effective decisions in a complex and often fast-moving clinical environment. The programme leads to registration with the Nursing and Midwifery Council on graduation. Registered adult nurses work across the NHS and independent healthcare sector, in hospitals, community teams, care homes, GP practices, and specialist services. The qualification is widely recognised internationally, and many nurses develop careers working in other countries as well as in the UK. Career pathways include specialist clinical practice, nursing management, education, research, and advanced practice roles such as nurse practitioner and clinical nurse specialist. Many nurses also go on to postgraduate study to develop specialist expertise or move into extended scope practice.
