Physics is the science of matter, energy and the fundamental laws that govern the universe, from the behaviour of subatomic particles to the structure of galaxies. It is a discipline that has driven some of the most transformative discoveries in human history, from quantum mechanics and relativity to semiconductor technology and the laser, and it continues to underpin innovation across almost every area of technology and science. Studying physics at degree level means developing the capacity to think rigorously about physical systems, to construct and evaluate mathematical models, and to move between theoretical reasoning and experimental observation.
