BSc Psychology with Business Psychology with a Year Abroad
About this course
Psychology with business psychology brings together the scientific study of human behaviour with the specific application of that science in organisational and commercial contexts. Business psychology, sometimes called occupational psychology or industrial-organisational psychology, applies psychological knowledge to questions about how people work, how organisations function, how decisions are made, and how the wellbeing and performance of employees can be supported. It is a rapidly growing specialism as organisations increasingly recognise that psychological insight is central to effective leadership, talent management, and organisational culture. At Kent you will study the full scope of psychological science, covering cognitive, social, developmental, biological, and clinical psychology, alongside business psychology content that addresses topics including leadership and motivation, team dynamics, selection and assessment, training and development, organisational change, and consumer behaviour. The programme asks how people think, perceive, and feel, and how that understanding can be applied to help organisations perform better and support their people more effectively. The four-year full-time programme includes a year abroad, giving you the opportunity to study psychology in another country and to develop an international perspective on the discipline and its applications. Graduates go on to careers in human resources, talent management, organisational development, occupational psychology, recruitment and selection, market research, consumer insights, management consulting, and a wide range of business and management roles. The accredited psychology degree meets the academic requirements for Graduate Basis for Chartered Membership of the British Psychological Society, opening pathways to further professional training in occupational, clinical, or other applied psychological specialisms. Many graduates continue to postgraduate study in occupational psychology or business psychology.
