MEng Robotics and Artificial Intelligence
About this course
Robotics and artificial intelligence is one of the most exciting and consequential fields in modern technology, concerned with building machines that can sense, reason, and act in the physical world. Robots and AI systems are transforming how we work, travel, manufacture goods, and interact with our environment, and the engineers and computer scientists who design and programme them are among the most sought-after graduates in the economy. The discipline combines programming, electronics, mechanical design, and the mathematics of machine learning into a coherent and demanding course of study. At Hull, this four-year full-time programme takes a hands-on approach, giving you the skills to programme and construct robotic systems that can interact with the real world. You will access industry-standard facilities including a robotics lab with DJI Drones, Turtlebot3 mobile robots, and humanoids such as Baxter, Nao, and Pepper, giving you direct experience with the kinds of systems that are deployed in research and industry. You will study the theory and practice of robotics and AI, including autonomous systems, machine learning, control theory, computer vision, and human-robot interaction. The typical entry tariff is 88 points. Graduates of robotics and AI programmes pursue careers in robotics engineering, autonomous systems development, AI research, software engineering, manufacturing automation, and technology consultancy. The combination of hardware and software skills developed on the programme is particularly valuable in advanced manufacturing, healthcare robotics, autonomous vehicles, space exploration, and research. Many graduates go on to postgraduate study in robotics, AI, or computer science, or move directly into industry roles where the combination of practical and theoretical expertise is in strong demand.
