Sport and exercise psychology applies psychological science to the understanding and enhancement of performance, participation, and wellbeing in sport and physical activity contexts. The discipline examines how mental processes such as motivation, attention, confidence, anxiety, and goal-setting affect performance and how psychological interventions can support athletes and exercisers at every level of engagement.
