BSc Travel, Aviation and Tourism Management (with Foundation Year)
About this course
Travel, aviation, and tourism management is a degree that addresses one of the world's largest and most economically significant sectors, one that spans airlines and airports, hotels and tour operators, cruise lines and destination management organisations, travel agencies and tourism policy bodies. The industry is global, fast-moving, and deeply affected by external factors including economic cycles, environmental concerns, geopolitical events, and the ongoing transformation of how people search for, book, and experience travel. Managing organisations in this environment requires both deep sector knowledge and transferable management skills. At the University of Bedfordshire, this four-year, full-time programme includes a foundation year for students who need additional academic preparation before the main degree. The curriculum develops your understanding of the travel, aviation, and tourism sectors alongside the management knowledge and skills needed to lead organisations within them. You will study how airlines and airports are managed, how tourism destinations develop and market themselves, how customer experience is designed and delivered, and how sustainability is increasingly shaping strategic decisions across the industry. The programme is designed to develop the knowledge and skills for the future that employers in the sector value. Graduates work across the full range of travel and tourism organisations, including airlines, airports, tour operators, hotels, cruise lines, visitor attractions, tourism boards, and destination management companies. Roles in operations management, marketing, customer experience, revenue management, and business development are among the most common. The broad management skills you develop also transfer into adjacent sectors and into general management roles. Postgraduate study in tourism management, hospitality, or business administration is an option for those who want to develop specialist expertise.
