About this course

Accounting and management together equip you to understand organisations from two complementary perspectives. Accounting is concerned with the production, interpretation, and communication of financial and non-financial information, providing the data that drives decision-making at every level of an organisation. Management asks how organisations are directed, structured, and led, drawing on psychology, economics, strategy, and organisational theory.

Combining the two gives you a particularly rounded preparation for leadership and advisory roles.

At the University of Bristol this three-year, full-time degree is professionally accredited and fully integrates the two subject areas rather than treating them as separate halves of a joint degree. You will develop the ability to interpret and assess financial data, understand accounting standards and practices, and communicate complex information clearly to a range of audiences. Alongside this, you will study organisational behaviour, strategy, operations, and leadership, building the management knowledge that organisations need in senior and advisory positions.

Bristol's strong reputation and research-led teaching ensure that you engage with contemporary developments in both fields, and the combination of technical accounting skills and management thinking prepares you to be a thoughtful and effective decision-maker.

Graduates from this programme pursue careers in accountancy, management consulting, investment banking, corporate finance, and a wide range of senior business roles. The professional accreditation means that you gain exemptions from some of the examinations required by leading professional accounting bodies, accelerating the path to qualification. Many graduates go on to complete professional training as chartered accountants, management accountants, or finance professionals, while others pursue postgraduate study in business, finance, or related disciplines.

The combination of skills you develop is valued across the private and public sectors.
