About this course

Business management with human resource management is a combination that places the management of people at the centre of a broader understanding of how organisations function. Human resource management is the professional discipline concerned with recruiting, developing, rewarding, managing and retaining the people who make organisations work. It encompasses employment law, talent management, organisational development, performance management, wellbeing and the cultural dimensions of workplace life.

Understanding HRM within the broader context of business management gives you both the specialist knowledge of people management and the commercial awareness to apply it effectively.

At Arden University, this part-time programme is delivered entirely online, allowing you to study from anywhere in the world without the requirement to attend classes in a physical location. This makes it particularly well suited to those who are already working and want to develop their professional knowledge and qualifications while maintaining their career. You will develop a comprehensive understanding of business management principles alongside specialist knowledge of human resource practice, building the skills and knowledge that employers in people management and business roles look for.

Graduates in business management with human resource management pursue careers in HR departments across all sectors, as well as in general management, consulting and roles that involve significant responsibility for people. Common positions include HR advisor, HR manager, talent acquisition specialist, people operations manager, training and development manager and organisational development consultant. The online delivery model means graduates often pursue the qualification alongside existing employment, leading directly to career advancement in their current organisations.

Postgraduate study in human resource management, business administration or organisational behaviour is available for those who want to develop specialist expertise or move into more senior roles.
