About this course

Computing and digital technologies is a broad and practical field concerned with how digital systems are designed, built, and used. It draws on computer science, software development, network engineering, data management, and digital design to equip students for a technology landscape that is constantly evolving. As artificial intelligence, cloud computing, and networked services reshape every sector of the economy, the demand for graduates who can work confidently with these technologies and apply them to real problems has never been stronger.

At Roehampton University, this full-time, three-year programme includes a foundation year, a sandwich year, a year abroad, and work placement opportunities, providing a well-supported route into computing for students at a range of starting points and ensuring that substantial industry experience is embedded in the degree. You will develop practical skills in programming, network design, and service development, working on hands-on projects that reflect real-world challenges. The programme incorporates work in artificial intelligence and digital problem-solving, giving you exposure to technologies that are defining the direction of the industry.

An integrated, project-based approach means that you develop a portfolio of work alongside your technical knowledge, demonstrating what you can build and solve rather than just what you have studied. The typical entry tariff is 88 UCAS points.

Graduates of computing and digital technologies programmes are well placed across a wide range of industries. Technology companies, financial services, healthcare, government, education, retail, and the creative industries all depend on digital systems and need people who can develop and manage them. Roles include software developer, web developer, network engineer, systems analyst, IT consultant, and digital project manager.

The foundation and placement years provide practical experience that makes graduates competitive from day one. Those wishing to continue their studies can progress to postgraduate programmes in computer science, cybersecurity, artificial intelligence, or digital innovation.
