Hospitality Business Management
Hospitality business management is the professional study of one of the world's largest and most dynamic sectors, encompassing hotels, restaurants, events, food and beverage, and the broader experience economy that has grown up around leisure and travel. Managing hospitality businesses effectively requires not just operational knowledge of how hotels and restaurants work, but the commercial and leadership skills to make strategic decisions, manage diverse teams, innovate in response to changing consumer expectations, and operate profitably in highly competitive markets.
At Leeds Beckett, this three-year full-time programme is developed in partnership with the Leeds Hotels and Venues Association, reflecting a commitment to connecting academic study with the realities of the sector. You will study the management principles relevant to hospitality, including financial management, marketing, operations, human resources, and customer experience, alongside the sector-specific knowledge of how hotels, food service, and events businesses operate. A sandwich year in industry, a year abroad, and a work placement are all built in, giving you extensive professional experience in hospitality environments and the international perspective that is essential for careers in a genuinely global industry.
Graduates are well placed for management careers across the hospitality sector, including hotel management, food and beverage management, event management, revenue management, and operational leadership roles in national and international chains. The programme's industry partnerships provide meaningful career connections, and Leeds Beckett's focus on practical learning means graduates are immediately effective in professional roles. Many go on to postgraduate study in hospitality management or business administration, or build careers that span multiple sectors of the experience economy.
