About this course

International business with Mandarin is a degree that positions you at the intersection of global commercial practice and one of the world's most strategically important languages. Mandarin Chinese is the most widely spoken native language in the world and the official language of China, one of the largest economies on earth. As Chinese businesses have expanded internationally and Western organisations have deepened their engagement with Chinese markets, supply chains, and partnerships, the ability to combine genuine international business understanding with Mandarin proficiency has become an increasingly rare and valuable professional capability.

The four-year full-time International Business with Mandarin programme at the University of Aberdeen is designed to develop the leaders of the future. The programme provides you with a broad understanding of international business alongside the study of Mandarin, equipping you with exceptional knowledge and understanding of both global business operations and the economic, political, and social contexts in which they take place. You will study how international firms compete and collaborate across borders, how cultural differences shape business relationships, and how the regulatory and institutional environments of different countries affect commercial strategy.

Your Mandarin studies develop linguistic proficiency alongside cultural understanding, giving you the language tools to operate in Chinese business environments.

With a typical entry tariff of 168 points, the programme is demanding and attracts students who combine business ambition with genuine linguistic commitment. Graduates are exceptionally well placed for careers in international business, trade, consulting, financial services, and diplomatic roles that involve China, as well as in multinational organisations where Mandarin proficiency is a genuine competitive advantage.
