About this course

Psychology is the scientific study of the mind and behaviour, examining how people think, feel, perceive, remember, and act, and why these processes vary so much between individuals and across contexts. It is a discipline that spans from the biological and neurological to the social and clinical, and it asks fundamental questions about human nature that remain only partially answered, making it one of the most intellectually dynamic fields available to study.

At City St George's, University of London, this three-year full-time programme is accredited by the British Psychological Society and is taught in a city that offers extraordinary access to diverse communities, institutions, and professionals working across every area of psychology. You will explore the complex interactions between the human mind, brain, behaviour, and experience, developing the analytical and critical thinking skills that are central to the discipline, alongside research skills and data literacy that are increasingly valued across every sector. You will study alongside internationally recognised researchers and active practitioners, bringing current and relevant perspectives into the classroom.

The programme includes a sandwich placement year and a year abroad, giving you direct professional experience and international exposure that significantly strengthen your preparation for graduate employment or further study.

Psychology graduates work across mental health services, education, human resources, user experience research, marketing, criminal justice, social research, and the pharmaceutical industry, among many other fields. The BPS accreditation of this programme means that graduates can proceed to the second stage of the Graduate Basis for Chartered Membership, which is required for those wishing to train as professional psychologists in areas such as clinical, educational, forensic, or occupational psychology. Postgraduate study in a psychology specialism or in a related field such as neuroscience or public health is a natural next step.

Genuinely worthwhile
The programme genuinely lives up to its reputation. The best part: the teaching staff are genuinely world-class and accessible. If I'm honest, would like to see more industry guest speakers in later years. On the city β€” the city is a brilli…

Worth it overall
There's a lot to love, but it's not without its flaws. The best part: the opportunity to do independent research in the final year is a highlight. If I'm honest, some seminar groups were too big for meaningful discussion. On the city β€” good…
