Electrical and electronic engineering is the discipline concerned with the generation, distribution, and application of electrical energy and with the design of electronic systems that process information, control machines, and enable communication. From power infrastructure and electric vehicles to semiconductors, communications systems, and embedded electronics, the discipline underpins almost all of the technology that defines modern life. Electrical and electronic engineers are among the most versatile of all engineering professionals, working across energy, defence, consumer electronics, healthcare technology, and the digital economy.

At the University of Plymouth, this four-year full-time programme, which includes a foundation year, prepares you for professional practice across this broad and important discipline. The foundation year builds the scientific and mathematical preparation needed for degree-level engineering, providing a structured entry for students who are ready to commit to engineering but need to consolidate their background.
