The role
What a fork-lift truck driver actually does, day to day.
As a fork-lift truck driver, you will be at the heart of operations in warehouses, distribution centres, and manufacturing plants. Your primary responsibility will be to operate fork-lift trucks to move goods and materials safely and efficiently. This involves loading and unloading deliveries, stacking products in designated areas, and ensuring that the warehouse is organised and compliant with health and safety regulations. You will also be responsible for conducting regular checks on the fork-lift truck to ensure it is in good working order, reporting any issues to your supervisor promptly.
The role requires a keen eye for detail and the ability to work under pressure, especially during peak times when demand is high. You will often collaborate with other team members, including warehouse operatives and logistics coordinators, to ensure that operations run smoothly. Communication skills are essential, as you will need to follow instructions and report any discrepancies in stock levels or equipment. This job is not just about driving; itβs about being an integral part of a team that keeps the supply chain moving efficiently.
