About this course

Architecture is the art and science of designing and making buildings and the spaces around them, balancing functional requirements, structural and environmental performance, aesthetic vision, and the needs of the people who will inhabit and move through the spaces that architects create. It is one of the most wide-ranging of the professions, drawing on engineering, art, cultural history, social science, and environmental science, and asking its practitioners to work simultaneously at the scale of a doorknob and the scale of a city. The Glasgow School of Art's Bachelor of Architecture programme is offered on a part-time basis and delivered through studio-based practice, as the school describes, challenging students to do, to make, and to engage on a daily basis as they explore design through experimentation and analysis.
