About this course
Film is one of the defining art forms of the twentieth and twenty-first centuries, a medium that combines narrative, image, sound, performance, and editing into an experience that can be simultaneously entertaining, politically provocative, aesthetically challenging, and emotionally powerful. Studying film at degree level develops both the critical capacity to analyse and interpret films and, in production-oriented programmes, the practical skills to make them. It is a discipline that takes cinema seriously as an object of study while connecting students to the industries and creative communities through which films are realised.
