About this course

Sociology is the discipline that asks why the world is organised the way it is, who benefits from that organisation, and how it changes over time. It examines the social forces, structures, and institutions that shape individual lives, from class, race, and gender to the labour market, the welfare state, the media, and global economic systems. Studying sociology means developing a critical, evidence-based way of thinking about the social world that takes nothing for granted and insists on asking whose interests a given arrangement serves.
