Architectural technology sits between architecture and engineering, focused on the technical design and specification of buildings and the detailed knowledge of construction materials, building physics, and structural systems that transforms architectural concepts into technically sound and buildable realities. Where architects are primarily concerned with the spatial and aesthetic qualities of buildings, architectural technologists specialise in the technical resolution of those designs: how roofs, walls, and floors perform against weather, heat, and moisture; how structures carry loads; how buildings meet regulatory requirements; and how construction details are designed and documented for contractors to build from.
