Biomedical Science is the discipline that bridges fundamental biological research and its application in medicine, healthcare and diagnostics. It examines the molecular and cellular processes that underlie health and disease, and applies that understanding to the development and delivery of diagnostic laboratory services. The field encompasses haematology, clinical biochemistry, medical microbiology, immunology, histopathology, transfusion science and molecular diagnostics, making it a broad and rigorous scientific training for careers in healthcare science and biological research.
