About this course
Data science has transformed how organisations make decisions, turning vast quantities of raw information into insight, prediction, and action. It draws on statistics, mathematics, and computer science, but its real power lies in applying these tools to real-world problems: understanding customer behaviour, detecting fraud, improving healthcare outcomes, or modelling climate systems. This three-year full-time programme at the University of Brighton includes both a sandwich year and a work placement, meaning you will spend significant time working in industry before you graduate. You will study the mathematical and statistical foundations of data analysis, including probability, linear algebra, and inferential methods, alongside the programming and computational skills needed to work with large datasets. Python, SQL, and machine learning tools are central to the practical curriculum, and
