About this course
Early childhood education is the professional and academic field concerned with the care, development, and learning of children from birth through to the start of compulsory schooling and beyond. It draws on developmental psychology, education theory, health and wellbeing research, and social policy to understand what children need and how practitioners can best support their growth across all domains: physical, cognitive, social, emotional, and communicative. This four-year full-time programme at the University of Bedfordshire leads to the Graduate Practitioner qualification and includes a foundation year, which provides an additional period of academic and professional preparation before the main degree begins. The foundation year is designed to support students who are entering higher education from a range of backgrounds and who want to build their confidence and knowledge base befo
